01 Project Background
The Parish & the Ventilation Challenge

Khiet Tam Parish Church is a thriving urban parish in Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City — one of the densest urban areas in southern Vietnam. Like most Vietnamese Catholic churches built to serve large communities, the building combines an expansive nave with architectural ceiling heights that dwarf a standard commercial space.
The parish's existing ventilation was inadequate. Conventional solutions — banks of small industrial fans, wall-mounted units, or split air conditioning — were evaluated and found wanting: too noisy for sacred liturgy, too expensive to operate, or too intrusive for the building's architectural character.

HVLS ceiling fans are the only solution that meets all four requirements.
1. Ceiling height 12–20 m
Vaulted church ceilings require fans engineered specifically for long downward air throw — standard domestic or small commercial fans are ineffective above 4–5 m.
2.
Large open floor plan for maximum congregation
Wide, column-free nave layouts require fans with broad coverage radius — a single HVLS unit covers 250-500 m², replacing dozens of smaller units.
3. Complex steel truss or vaulted roof structure
Mounting large fans requires a full structural survey — not all roof points can accept the load without reinforcement.
4. Silence is a liturgical requirement
The acoustic space of the church is integral to worship. Any mechanical noise that competes with spoken prayer, music, or preaching is unacceptable.
02 The HVLS Advantage
Five Reasons HVLS Is the
Only Logical Choice for Churches
HVLS technology was purpose-built for large spaces that need strong, quiet, efficient airflow. For religious buildings, every one of its defining characteristics aligns with what the space demands.
Wide-Area Coverage – Fewer Units
A single 3–7.3 m HVLS fan covers up to 500 m², reducing the number of fans required and lowering installation costs.
Near-Silent Operation
BLDC gearless motors operate below 50 dB, providing powerful airflow without disturbing worship services.
60–80% Lower Energy Cost
Using only 1–2 kW, HVLS fans deliver significant energy savings compared to traditional air conditioning.
Natural Cooling Without Cold Drafts
Creates a consistent, gentle breeze that provides a perceived cooling effect of 4–6°C across the entire space.
Minimal Visual Intrusion
Streamlined aluminium blades blend seamlessly into church interiors, maintaining both comfort and architectural beauty.

The Installation in Detail
From the structural reinforcement phase to final commissioning — Khiet Tam Parish, Thu Duc.
1
Structural
Assessment
Engineers inspected and certified all mounting locations, completing any required structural reinforcement before installation.
2
Mounting & Suspension Installation
Custom brackets and drop rods were installed to position each fan at the optimal height for maximum airflow coverage.
3
Fan Assembly & Electrical Integration
The BLDC motors, controllers, and blades were installed, balanced, and tested to ensure smooth, vibration-free operation.
4
Testing & Commissioning
Airflow, noise levels, and system performance were verified before staff training and final project handover.
